Meet Owner

Dan McKenzie

I’m Dan, the owner of Finish Pros. Antiques and refinishing are in my blood. From a very young age, I was surrounded by fascinating items at my family’s auction house in Raleigh. Soon enough, I started an apprenticeship at my brother’s refinishing shop and learned all about the furniture restoration process. I studied regional characteristics of American Furniture and became an ISA Appraiser specializing in period antiques and museum quality restoration. I still love restoring furniture even though I work with an incredible team of master upholsterers and finishers. Guiding Finish Pros to be the best furniture restoration shop in the Triangle has been a dream of mine since I was a child. When I’m not working, I’m probably at the beach with my 2 incredible kids and wife.

Ben WeidnerResidential Estimator

For almost a decade now, I’ve been afforded the opportunity to work with some of the most interesting upholstery and refinishing projects across the Triangle. The first part of my job involves gaining a full understanding of your project and utilizing my knowledge of furniture and restoration in order to determine how to best achieve your desired result. I then serve as the link between you and our craftsman, managing the technical aspects of your project as it moves through our shop.
I feel a tremendous sense of gratitude towards our clients, who invite me into their homes on a daily basis and entrust me with family heirlooms which are priceless to them. I’m also grateful to work with such a spirited group of people, doing something so valuable and unique. I’m a father of four kids, an avid reader, and a non-stop guitar strummer.
